Cierra Ortega’s Family Speaks Out After Her Removal From Love Island USA



Cierra Ortega who was a contestant on Love Island USA Season 7 that was recently announced that she was removed from the villa. After past social media activity resurfaced showing her using Asian racial slurs. This discovery sparked widespread backlash across social media, with many viewers calling for accountability and for her to be removed from the show.


Now, Cierra’s family has released an emotional statement in response to the situation and the intense fallout that has followed.


Posted to her Instagram Stories, the statement comes from her parents and describes the last week as "one of the most painful of our lives." They  acknowledged the backlash and the hurt it caused, but also condemns the level of hate and harassment that has extended to their family and others.


“We’re not here to justify or ignore what’s surfaced,” they wrote. “We understand why people are upset, and we know accountability matters. But what’s happening online right now has gone far beyond that.”

They go on to highlight the cruel messages and threats that have been directed at not just Cierra, but her friends and supporters as well calling it “uncalled for” and “heartbreaking.”


Cierra’s family also confirmed that while Cierra is no longer in the villa, she is still away and has not yet had the chance to process the situation or respond publicly.


“We know our daughter. We know her heart. And when she returns, we believe she’ll face this with honesty, growth, and grace.”

The message closes by asking the public for patience and basic compassion, emphasizing that Cierra will take responsibility in her own voice and time.
